Question and answer

Hi just a bit of information on how paintings are created and I will answer some questions that have been asked.

Q.1

What is meant by deep side canvas and painted all round?

A.1

There are two types of canvas frames, one is a normal depth frame of 19mm deep and has to  have a picture frame around it, which can be expensive, and the second type is a deep framed canvas which is 38mm deep and does not need a frame around it and is normally painted down the sides, the sides can be painted white or a colour from the painting, myself I like to paint the picture around the side so it becomes part of the painting, deep frames are popular in new modern homes.

Q.2

Can you put a frame around deep frame canvas paintings? New Back Frame

A.2

Yes you can, the frames are usually deeper to cover the extra depth of the canvas so it hides the canvas sides. I have developed a new frame which I have called the back frame to overcome this problem  I normally paint them white to increase the look of the painting without the heavy look of a normal frame. photos below.

Q.3

Are your paintings vanished when sold, and can it be removed?

A.3

Yes all paintings are varnished both Acrylic and Oil paints with removable varnish I use on  both Oil and Acrylic so in 100 yrs when it becomes dirty it can be easily removed without damaging the paint beneath and the new varnish applied.

Q.4

Can you paint a picture from a photo of pet, house or a holiday shot that we have?

A.4

Yes that is not a problem.

Q.5

Why are your paintings so cheap are they poor quality.

A.5

Definitely not poor quality all paints are artist quality which will not fade for at least 100 years, as for my time I am retired and paint for the love not the money.

Below are 2 photos of a back frame. as you can see the canvas is painted all around then a white frame is placed on the back of the painting to give it a non heavy look but still having a frame.
